- National specialty chemical distribution firm that specializes in serving a variety of customers in the industrial, personal care, and food and pharmaceutical industries
- They’ve been in business for over 40 years and have more than fifteen North American warehouses and distribution centers
- They have expanded tremendously in the last few years and have bought several well-established and profitable distributors over that time
- The owners are committed to growing the company for many years to come
Position
- Due to the aforementioned inorganic and organic growth of the firm, they are in need of a Product Manager to work alongside their sales force and supply partners nationwide
- This person will define and manage the firm’s strategy with respect to product strategy, go-to-market strategy and supplier selection
- This person will be the primary interface between the firm’s suppliers and the firm’s sales force and hence, has primary responsibility for communication between these two groups
- This person will be a key resource to the firm’s sales force with respect to market trends and factors affecting price
- Manages and owns the overall commercial relationship with key suppliers and is the “face” of the firm to them
- The position is home-office based and requires up to 50% travel nationwide
Qualifications
- Three years B2B sales or marketing or product management experience in specialty (not commodity) chemicals is required — personal care experience is highly desired
- A four-year degree is required and a technical degree is highly preferred
- This firm greatly values intellectual curiosity
- Strong interpersonal skills along with excellent written and verbal communication skills are required
